Manage your license

The Data Studio license enables a set of functionality in the application. The license is made up of multiple licensed features, allowing you to choose exactly what functionality to enable.

View license information

To check what license you have and see what features it enables:

  1. Click the user icon in the top menu and select About Aperture Data Studio.
  2. Click Show detailed license info.

Please see below for the full listing of Aperture Data Studio modules.

No License module Description
1 Edition Your core license type: Standard, Pro, or Enterprise. You won’t be able to access Aperture Data Studio once it expires.
2 Additional records Extra rows (in million) for each dataset. Added to the base license records.
3 Consumers Number of read-only users who can view reports. These users typically consume outputs from Aperture Data Studio workflows.
4 Data sources Maximum number of datasets you can load into Aperture Data Studio.
5 Designers The number of administrators/workflow builders who can build workflows or manage the system.
6 Find Duplicates A smart matching engine that helps identify and merge duplicate records to create a single customer view.
7 Governance Catalog A fully integrated module for documenting and managing data assets, and tracking how data quality affects business processes.
8 Progress Drivers Includes connectors for databases and CRM systems to streamline data uploads and export.
9 Pushdown Processing Lets you run workflows directly on your database for faster performance.
10 Realtime Workflows Enables workflows to act as APIs for processing individual records in real time.
11 Address Data Reference datasets licensed for use in the Validate addresses step.

Activating your license

You will be asked to provide the generated token that identifies the order details specific to your Aperture Data Studio deployment. Your token can be retrieved from our Self Service Portal. Enter the token at the Update License prompt.
If you have multiple Deployments, such as test and production, you should ensure that the correct Token is being used for each installation.

Internet connectivity is required for the server where Aperture Data Studio is deployed. Aperture Data Studio makes outbound calls to Experian licensing servers for license activation as well as license checks to ensure licensing data is always up to date. To prevent access issues, please inform your network administrator to action upon the checklist below:

  1. Ensure that the URL below is whitelisted in your outbound firewall’s rules: https://entitlement.saas.edq.com/api/v1/EntitlementCheck

  2. If your using a Proxy server to handle internet traffic, please ensure that you create the following below. This will ensure that outbound licensing calls are routed through the proxy server:

    1. Navigate to Environment Variables (Control Panel >> System >> Advanced System Settings >> Environment Variables)
    2. Click on New and add the following:
      Variable name: CLOUD_LICENSE_HTTP_PROXY
Variable value: << your proxy host address>>
    3. Click on OK to save the new Environment Variable.

Updating a license

If you have agreed an update to your existing license such as extending the dates, adding new users or functionality, these should be applied automatically. However, you can check/force an update by clicking Refresh license information on the About Aperture Data Studio screen.

If you need to update the license with a token from another deployment, then retrieve the token from our Self Service Portal and enter it at the Update License prompt.

Licensed features

Rows and data sources

Rows per table is the maximum number of rows that a single Dataset can have. For a multi-batch Dataset, the total number of rows is the sum of all rows in all batches. This limit applies to all Datasets, including Snapshots.

Number of data sources is the number of Datasets that can be loaded into Data Studio. Data loaded from files, database tables, or created in a Workflow (as a Snapshot) all count as Datasets. The limit applies to the sum total of all Datasets in all Spaces and Environments within your deployment.

User license limits

The user license limits apply to enabled users. If a user is disabled, their Space, permissions, and settings are retained but they are not able to log in and no longer count towards the license limit. You may create as many users as you wish and enable/disable them selectively as required.

Data Consumer users is the number of Consumer users that can be enabled at any point in time with a role that has no defined capabilities. Consumer users typically interact with reports generated by Data Studio Workflows.

Administrator / Designer users is the number of users that can be enabled at any point in time with a role that at a minimum includes the 'Access Designer interface' capability. Any user managing data, creating Workflows, or carrying out user administration will be an Administrator / Designer user.

Non native add-on steps

Non native add-on steps indicates whether Workflow steps and parsers built using the Data Studio SDK, also known as custom steps and custom parsers, can be used in the deployment.

Where custom steps or parsers are included as part of a Data Studio deployment, the About Aperture Data Studio page will also list the name, version, developer and the assigned license type.
