Creating and managing validation jobs

Create a validation job

  1. In the Self Service Portal, select Bulk validation.
  2. Select Create new job.
  3. Enter a recognizable Job name.
  4. Select the connected Integration.
  5. Select the type of Source, then select the audience or source to validate.
  6. The number of profiles in the selected source are displayed.
  7. Select Start validation job.

The job appears in the Bulk validation job list.

Monitor validation progress

Select a job to see its Summary and Validation process.

The summary shows the source, dates created and completed, total number of email records, current status, and a results chart. The validation process shows overall progress and the number of emails validated.

The results chart groups the Email Validation API confidence levels into three statuses:

Chart status API confidence level Description
Verified verified The mailbox exists, is reachable, and is not known to be illegitimate or disposable.
Likely invalid undeliverable, illegitimate, or disposable The address is unlikely to be suitable for sending. For example, the mailbox may not exist, the address may be a role or spam-trap address, or the domain may belong to a disposable email provider.
Unable to verify unreachable, unknown, or any missing or unrecognized confidence level Email Validation could not conclusively verify or invalidate the address. For example, the domain may not be responding, may accept all email, or the validation request may have timed out.

These are validation-result categories for the email addresses in the audience. They are separate from the processing status of the validation job or its batches. For the complete list of confidence levels and detailed outcomes, see Confidence level.

Bulk validation processes records in batches of up to 10,000. If a batch encounters an error, you can retry that batch without affecting the other batches. While a job is validating, you can stop it from the Validation process tab.

Export completed results

When a job is complete:

  1. Select the job.
  2. On the Summary tab, go to Export results.
  3. Select Export to your integration.

Bulk validation exports the validation results to the connected platform to help keep your customer data up to date.

Klaviyo custom properties

When you export a completed job to Klaviyo, Bulk validation adds the following custom properties to each Klaviyo profile:

Property Description
experian_email_validation_status A simplified result: verified, likely invalid, or unable to verify. Undeliverable, illegitimate, and disposable addresses are categorized as likely invalid; all other inconclusive results are categorized as Unable to verify.
experian_email_validation_timestamp The date and time that the validation results were retrieved, in UTC using ISO 8601 format.
experian_email_confidence The detailed confidence result returned by Email Validation. See Confidence level.
experian_email_verbose_output Additional information explaining the confidence result.
experian_email_did_you_mean The first suggested correction for the email address, when one is available. See Suggestions.
experian_email_domain_type Whether the email address uses a business or consumer domain, when this can be determined.
experian_email_validation_job_id The identifier of the Bulk validation job that produced the result.

Each export replaces the values of these properties on the affected profiles. If Email Validation does not return a value for a property, Bulk validation clears any value previously stored in that property so that an older result is not retained.

Delete a job

Use the action for a job in the Bulk validation job list to delete it. Confirm the deletion when prompted.
